Counseling Services
Classroom Guidance Lessons
I will visit each classroom once a month and have a chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons will typically last about 30-45 minutes and will systematically and intentionally develop the knowledge and skills needed to enhance their educational, career, personal and social development. I will cover the four areas that are addressed in the Texas Education Code. These areas are:
- Interpersonal Effectiveness
- Intrapersonal Effectiveness
- Personal Health and Safety
- Post-Secondary Education and Career Readiness
Small-Group Counseling
A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending extra time developing academic, social, or emotional; skills along with their peers who are coping with similar life situations.
- Managing Stress and Anxiety
- Anger Management
- Peer Relations and Social Skills
- Grief
- Changing Families/Divorce
Individual Counseling
Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. In individual counseling settings, I will provide planned, short-term and solution-focused counseling. It is outside my expertise to provide therapy or long-term counseling; however, I am prepared to recognize, respond and refer students to outside resources in our community.
